Public transport to NGV International

There are several ways to get to NGV International by public transport.

Tram routes 1, 3, 5, 6, 16, 64, 67 and 72 stop at the Arts Precinct accessible tram stop, directly outside NGV International on St Kilda Road.

The closest train station is Flinders Street Station, a 500m walk across the Princes Bridge past the Arts Centre. Alternatively, take a one-stop tram ride from Flinders Street to the Gallery.

Taxi or rideshare to NGV International

Taxi and rideshare drop-off and pick-up points are located outside Arts Centre Melbourne, a 110m walk from the entrance to NGV International.

Parking at NGV International

Paid accessible parking is available at the Arts Centre Melbourne and Australian Ballet Centre. Due to ongoing building works in the area, access may be impacted at times. Please allow extra time to park before your visit.

Limited free accessible street parking for people with appropriate permits is available outside the Arts Centre Melbourne on St Kilda Road, however, these spots are in high demand. 

There is a drop-off point located outside Arts Centre Melbourne, a 110m walk from the entrance to NGV International.

Bicycle parking at NGV International

There are bicycle lanes running north and south along St Kilda Road. The closest on-street bicycle hoops are located on St Kilda Road, directly outside the entrance.

Public transport to NGV Australia

There are several ways to get to NGV Australia by public transport.

Tram routes 1, 3, 5, 6, 16, 64, 67 and 72 stop at the Federation Square/Swanston St (#13) stop and tram routes 35, 70 and 75 stop at the Swanston St/Flinders St (#5) and Russell St/Flinders St (#6) stops.

The closest train station is Flinders Street Station, a 250m walk through Fed Square.

For those with limited mobility, we recommend that you access NGV Australia via the entrance on the Russell Street extension or via the Fed Square atrium, off Flinders Street, as the outdoor path through the main Fed Square area has a sloped and uneven surface.

Taxi or rideshare to NGV Australia

Taxi and rideshare drop-off and pick-up points are located on the Russell Street extension, near the entrance of NGV Australia.

Parking at NGV Australia

Paid parking is available at Fed Square via Russell Street or Batman Ave (Exhibition Street extension – City Link). During busy periods, exiting via the Batman Ave exit is recommended.

Accessible parking is available on each level of the Fed Square Car Park, near the lifts. The height restriction for vehicles is 2.1 metres. Should your vehicle exceed this height, contact Fed Square at (03) 9655 1900 for alternative arrangements.

Limited free accessible street parking for people with appropriate permits is available. Visit the City of Melbourne website for more information on how to find accessible parking.

Bicycle parking at NGV Australia

Due to ongoing construction for the Melbourne Metro Town Hall Station, bicycle lanes around NGV Australia may be impacted. The closest on-street bicycle hoops are located on Flinders Street, near the Russell Street extension. Visit the City of Melbourne website for more information on lanes and on-street bicycle hoop locations.
