What do representations of the land reveal about how different groups (Indigenous and non-Indigenous) have perceived, interacted with and impacted the environment throughout Australian history? Discover how works from the NGV Collection can be used to investigate representations of the Australian environment through visual analysis and discussion.

• Describe and analyse how relationships with Australian outdoor environments are expressed by specific Indigenous communities before and after European colonisation through works in the NGV Collection
• Discuss what artworks can tell us about Australian outdoor environments as influenced by:
