What are your plans for the planet?

Artist Olaf Breuning presents an adventure playground for kids to explore, be creative and share their point of view on their world. Throughout the exhibition, children can interact with animated drawings by the artist, create their own drawings, learn about the natural world, and read Olaf’s first book for kids while nestled in a reading nook.

This free exhibition is suitable for children of all ages, school groups and playgroups.

I wish for children to take away refreshing thoughts with them, and be more motivated to make ‘plans for our planet’ – hopefully, good ones!

— Olaf Breuning

Activities

Nature and Us

Step into a forest-inspired wonderland featuring the artist’s illustrations, where children can learn about life in the forest while drawing habitats for birds and woodland animals.

Children can settle in a hollow and read Olaf’s book about nature filled with colourful images of trees, water, flowers and bees.

Come back and take part in new hands-on activities across the exhibition period.

A nest in the trees

In June, complete a paper tree with drawings of homes for small animals and birds. Will you create a bird’s nest or a hollow for a possum?

Under the leaves

In July, receive a drawing sheet shaped like a grass tuft and find out which creatures live on the forest floor when you complete this drawing activity.

Log house

In August, finish your paper log with animals that live in burrows and add fungi and moss that grow on a log in a forest.

Our Plans for the Planet

In an animation, children can listen to forest animals chatting about contemporary issues and respond with their thoughts and plans for their local communities to help save the planet.

Parents and carers
When children write they put their ideas into words. Written down, words help children explain and understand themselves and help them recognise their feelings and experiences.

Just a Person

In this photobooth activity, children can create digital self-portraits featuring their selection of images that might say something about their interests, their likes or dislikes, or what life is like in the year 2025.

Parents and carers
Self-portraits are a way for children to visually represent feelings, perceptions and sense of self, helping them build a deeper understanding of who they are and how they see themselves.
